CHILDREN’S COAT OF ARMS DESIGN COMPETITION

It’s time to design a coat of arms that reflects the amazing contribution of Thomas Francis Meagher to Waterford and Ireland. Let your imagination soar and create a coat of arms that tells the story of Thomas Francis Meagher and his gift of the Irish flag. You'll find information about Thomas Francis Meagher on our History page.

Primary school children around the city and county of Waterford are invited to design a coat of arms for the Ireland of today as part of the 176th anniversary celebrations. The entry form can be downloaded here.

The form can be returned to any library (Waterford Libraries) in the city or county by 31/03/24. Winner will receive a voucher for the Book Centre in Waterford city. Their artwork will be displayed on social media channels owned by Thomas Francis Meagher Celebration Committee.

Terms and Conditions

  1. One entry per person

  2. Entries must be returned to a Waterford library by 31/03/24. Late entries will not be considered.

  3. Judge’s decision is final.

  4. Top prize is a €30 voucher for the Book Centre in Waterford. Two runner up prizes of €10 vouchers for the Book Centre will also be presented. Prizes are non-transferable. No alternative available.

  5. Winner’s entry will appear on online channels owned by Thomas
    Francis Meagher Celebration Committee.
